Testing on the AMP Road Course, Drifting Course and Oval Tracks
Drivers and teams can schedule Open Testing, Private Testing and Semi-Private Testing at Altamont Motorsports Park by contacting Jim Becker, Business Manager, by e-mail or by phone at 209.383.7671 (office) or 209.628.4738 (cell). Special Event Testing is restricted testing, and will be scheduled by AMP with the event organizers.
» Open Track Testing. Open Track Testing has been
extended to two days during 2007 to allow more track-time, provide safer test
conditions and include new classes of cars. Starting March 29, 2007,
Altamont Motorsports Park will be open on Thursdays for
Drifting and Road Course testing. Starting March 30, 2007, Altamont
Motorsports Park's one-half mile and one-quarter mile oval tracks
will be available on Fridays for stock car, sprint car, midget, truck and
typical oval track classes.
Schedule. Gates will open for open testing at 12:00 noon. Track availability will start at 2:00 p.m., with the final checkered flag at 8:00 p.m. AMP's gates will close promptly at
9:00 p.m. on both Thursdays and Fridays. Open test sessions will be divided into
30-minute sessions per class of car on-site. Four (4) or more
classes on-site will reduce the each session to 20 minutes, to help
expedite the rotation. Test fees. Standard fees for Thursday Road Course, Drifing and Formula 4 testing are $75 per car. Standard fees for all others are $125 per car. Fees include up to two (2) drivers. Each additional driver is
$50. Crew members are free. Fees during restricted or special event testing will supercede standard fees. Licenses. All drivers must hold a current,
recognized competition license or competition permit. Altamont Motorsports Park recognizes the following sanctioning licenses: NASCAR, USAC, BCRA, CASA, NCMA, SCCA, NASA, Legends-600 Racing, AMA & AFM (for motorcycle testing only), SRL, WestCar, NOPI, IDCR, and D-1. Other organizations may submit qualifications for written approval from Altamont Motorsports Park. Anyone not having an approved competition license may apply for a 2007 Altamont Motorsports Park Competition Permit ($50), valid for all 2007 open test dates and specified events held at Altamont Motorsports Park. Competition license requirements for motorsports events held at Altamont Motorsports Park are up to the event organizer and/or sanctioning body. Any situation where an unpaid or unauthorized driver is found on the track will
result in that car being unable to test at AMP for six (6) months from
the date of the infraction.
» Private Track Rental. Private Track Rental can be scheduled throughout the year for $500 per day (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday
through Wednesday). This includes one car and up to two
drivers. Each additional driver is $50. Crew members are free. All
drivers must hold a current, recognized competition license, which
may include an Altamont Motorsports Park Competition Permit. Any
situation where an unpaid driver is found on the track will result in
that car being unable to test at AMP for six (6) months from the date of
the infraction.
» Semi-Private Track Rental. Semi-Private Track Rental is a variation on AMP's Private
Track Rental program that allows up to a maximum of four (4)
cars/teams to rent the track for the day and share the cost ($125 per
car/team). Semi-Private Track Rental is available 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Monday through Wednesday. Semi-Private Track Rental will restrict
each car to one (1) driver per car and no more than two (2) cars on
the track at any one time. One team that brings 2 cars counts as two
of the maximum 4-car total. Cars on the track should separate
themselves in distance as much as possible. No "racing" or
passing where both cars are at-speed will be allowed. Passing must
be done under be a controlled situation where the overtaking car has
been signalled to pass and the slower car drops from the racing
line. The authorized drivers may drive any of the cars being tested
(car swapping); however, any situation where an unauthorized driver
is found on the track will result in that car being unable to test at
AMP for six (6) months from the date of the infraction. All drivers must
hold a current, recognized competition license, which may include an
Altamont Motorsports Park Competition Permit.
» Special Event Testing. Special Event Testing will occur on Fridays that precede a
major event (e.g., NASCAR Grand National, USAC Open Wheel Event,
etc.). Testing will be restricted to only those cars entered in the
weekend race. Testing will be open from 10:00 a.m. until
8:00 p.m. Special Event Tests will require a test fee of $400 per
car, unless otherwise specified. Crew members are free.
