Located on 83 acres just outside Livermore, California (Alameda County), "Altamont Speedway" first opened its gates on July 22, 1966.
Throughout its long history, the track--variously known as Altamont Speedway, Altamont Raceway, Altamont Raceway Park and Altamont Raceway Park and Arena--has hosted a wide variety of events. It also has attracted some of the biggest names in racing history,
including notables such as Foyt, Andretti, and Unser.
In January 2006, management of the facility was acquired by Riverside Motorsports Park, LLC, the Merced County-based company
dedicated to the future of quality motorsports in California and throughout the West. Reopening in 2006 under the new
name of Altamont Motorsports Park, the historic facility is today a truly unique, multi-venue racing destination for many motorsports
competitors, as well as a fan-friendly, family-friendly entertainment facility for the more than 6.5 million residents living within a 90-minute
driving distance.
Altamont Motorsports Park is sanctioned by NASCAR and is proud to host the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
